For 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, University of Saint Mary was named a “Best Midwestern College” by The Princeton Review, which awards the honor only to colleges with reputations for excellence in academics. Our students find that small class sizes and professors that call you by name are what set USM apart.

University of Saint Mary was honored nationally as one of only five schools in the nation to receive the 2007 Council for Higher Education Accreditation Award. This recognition was given for demonstrating outstanding achievement in promoting student success, based on overall learning outcomes for its MAT program.

Regional Accreditation

The University of Saint Mary is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA)*.

Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Saint Mary is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)**. The nursing program gained initial accreditation in April 2008 for the maximum period of 5 years. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCATE) Accreditation

University of Saint Mary is accredited by the the State of Kansas Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)***. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs.

NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel. The MAT curriculum is held to the same accreditation standards as the on-campus degree programs.
