Earn Your Master’s Degree from the Pioneer in Safety, Security & Emergency Management with a Concentration in Homeland Security

In response to suggestions made by our current students and to the increased homeland security needs of our nation, the College of Justice & Safety at Eastern Kentucky University has developed a Homeland Security concentration within the Master of Science in Safety, Security & Emergency Management degree program. In addition, EKU has developed a Homeland Security certificate which can be completed independently of the degree program. Should you decide you would like to continue your education after completing the certificate, the credits you earn can be transferred over and applied to the Master’s degree program.

The demand for professionals with knowledge and skills in homeland security and emergency management is at an all-time high and continues to rise. Now is the perfect time to acquire the skills necessary to secure a solid future in this dynamic career field.

The Homeland Security Concentration & Certificate is designed to:

  • Provide students with an overview of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which includes a critical analysis of the structure and administration of the DHS.
  • Instruct students on how to recognize significant hazards and threats to national and domestic security, analyze intelligence, respond to national disasters and epidemics, and how to best allocate funds to minimize risk factors.
  • Prepare graduates for employment in a variety of settings and capacities such as the DEA, Secret Service, FBI, Air Marshals, intelligence analysis, special agents, and emergency management.
