Homeland Security is a concentration of the Master of Science in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Degree Program (MSEM). The concentration allows students to build upon the basic program of study and focus on their unique area of specialization. Generally after two years of study, the skills and knowledge that you develop will equip you with the leadership capability and an opportunity to pursue a variety of positions in the world of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management.

The Homeland Security concentration focuses your education on emergency management, the legal and ethical issues of homeland security, problem analysis and prevention, disaster recovery, WMD and hazardous materials, cyber security, terrorism, as well as courses in Strategic Planning for Fire and Emergency Services, Public Emergency Services Leadership, Public Sector Budgeting and Financing, Management Theory in Leadership Services, Legislation and Legal Compliance and Worker’s Compensation and Labor Law.

Admission Requirements

In order to enter the Masters of Science in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Degree Program you must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. You must be able to submit the transcripts of you baccalaureate degree. You should expect to be required to pay a small fee to process your application, and to be able to supply up to three letters of recommendation. In addition, many Master’s Degree Programs have minimum undergraduate GPA and or standardized test score requirements.
