Clinical Nurse Specialist Program
UC’s Masters in Nursing - online Clinical Nurse Specialist/Nurse Educator program prepares you to be an expert clinician, leader, and educator in your area of specialization. Nurses who desire to work in consulting and educational roles within the hospital environment will learn valuable strategies to become practice leaders. You will have the opportunity to focus in three specialty areas: Adult Health, Gerontology, and Critical Care. Along with certification in these areas of specialization, after two full-time years of experience in an academic setting, graduates will also be eligible to take the Certified Nurse Educator examination offered by the National League of Nursing.
Adult Health & Gerontology Nurse Program
This specialization focuses on the care of patients over the age of 12. Graduates will meet criteria to take the Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (formerly Med-Surg) certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Coursework in this area also focuses on the growing area of older adult health. Graduates will meet criteria to take the Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
